We’re privileged to have been invited to support activities at the World Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) which opened today in Sendai, Japan. Opened by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and the host Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, thousands of delegates have arrived from around the world representing governments, international institutions and civil society all participating in efforts to reduce the risk of disasters.
In particular Andrew is supporting the Global Board of GNDR in designing and delivering a programme of events designed to support and influence governments in ensuring international policies and commitments are matched with actions at the frontline. It is at the local level that communities most vulnerable to disasters are most affected by intensive disasters such as tsunamis and earthquakes, as well as the everyday disasters that occur out of the media spotlight.
We’ve been involved in this global campaign for 10 years and it’s an exciting and fascinating challenge to be part of. Find out more on the WCDRR website.
