Fascinating time this week returning to my hometown of Birmingham and joining 180+ coaches and mentors at the annual West Midlands Coaching & Mentoring conference held at the International Convention Centre.
Joining together with The Diversity Practice we led an experiential session exploring borderless coaching – an approach to coaching that goes deeper with clients by embracing and exploring the dynamics of diversity in it’s various forms. Great to receive very positive feedback and reinforcement that our work in this area is sparking interest. It’s an exciting new adventure to support coaches and also leaders in organisations working with diverse clients or teams. We start by exploring our own biases, assumptions and ‘borders’ to strengthen our own self-awareness and through doing so strengthen our capability and competence in working with others where diversity can offer much potential which is often untapped. We explore different ‘borderless practices’ – using inclusion EQ (emotional intelligence), holistic empathy, cultural synergy and fierce courage to identify and cross borders for ourselves and for our clients.
An exciting journey lies ahead!
