I’ve been enjoying the spirit of Jurgen Klopp’s post-match interviews this season. In the immediate aftermath of a match, football managers are in the spotlight like never before – the media captures every word, every movement. For me there’s an authenticity that comes through in the way this Liverpool manager communicates – a quality that is often spoken about in terms of successful leaders. His recent interview just a few minutes after the big disappointment of losing the Europa Cup Final to Sevilla is one that really caught my attention. Clearly disappointed and frustrated I really appreciated his ability to reflect, reset, and focus on the future, accepting responsibility and highlighting why this needs to be an important moment for future success. I’m looking forward to more ‘Klopp communication’ next season!
